I'm new to this forum and confess I know little about Cleveland Bays, but like all breeds I'm discovering the facts and fallacies that circulate about them. In New Zealand we have had some lovely stallions imported over the years but they don't seem to be as popular as they once were. This might be just a sign of the times or whats more fashionable.
I bought a Cleveland Bay Sporthorse mare years ago called Wetherby Galaxy by Osberton Goliath out of a TB mare. She was a whopping 17.0hh. She was a very sweet mare, but alas I was ripped off as I discovered after purchase she was full of arthritis in her back and in her front legs. That's when I began to learn how dishonest some horsey people are. My fault for trusting huh?
I've loved horses all my life, and have over 35 years experience. I still look at the Cleveland Bay and have recently come across two part-bred fillies by Astan Magnum, whom I'm trying to find more information on. He doesn't appear to be as well advertised like some of the other CB horses. He is 23 years old and resides on a farm in Gisborne with a lady who has given him a kind loving home. This stallion was imported into NZ from England in 1986. Do any of you know anything about him?
